Hardware Design Laboratory

The IKR hardware design laboratory provides opportunities of carrying out research projects, bachelor theses and master theses, and it forms the basis for a lab course, which covers the architecture and the construction of computer systems.

In the hardware lab you can recreate the whole process of designing digital systems. For this purpose, the hardware laboratory provides support for tools ranging from the abstract description of the required function to the finished board.

The process of designing a digital system is divided into three stages:

A digital system can be described with the hardware description language VHDL at various abstraction levels.

To implement the VHDL description, programmable logic modules are often used whose function can be defined by programming the module.

For the operation of the circuit boards are necessary that allow connections to the outside world.
