Abstract

Traffic measurements and reliable off-line as well as on-line estimation techniques are required to determine accurately the traffic load and resource usage in current high-speed networks with their different service classes. For this purpose new operational data collection procedures have to be developed and implemented in the network elements that use both measurements scheduled at a regular time basis and special high-resolution measurements triggered by network management actions.
