Title

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OPTIMIZING THE TRANSFER OF INFORMATION IN MULTIPROTOCOL NETWORKS BY USING DIFFERENT TRANSFER LAYERS

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for exchanging packet-oriented information in a network consisting of stations, especially terminals and routers. Communication occurs on different protocol levels, especially with IP and MPLS. The stations, especially the routers, make decisions as to the further processing of the information packets on a higher protocol level, especially an IP level; according to an event, the station from which the information packets originate is requested to to send other information packets whose type triggered said event at a lower protocol level, especially at MPLS level; once successful shifting has occurred, the decisions on further processing are carried out at a the lower protocol level.
