Context-aware Communication Control
This sub-project investigates mechanisms for
context-aware communication control of Nexus
applications. Due to latent discrepancies between an
application's requirements and the capabilities of
heterogeneous mobile communication networks,
communication patterns of Nexus applications such as the
visualization of spatial-world model information must be
adaptive and cross-layer optimized. Therefore, one major
focus of this project are network-based mechanisms for
adaptive transport of model data. The other principal
work item are context-aware adaptation control and
orchestration methods spanning several application
instances. The methods to be developed will use
high-quality context information from the Nexus world
model, in addition to model-based access network
discovery and selection, which has already been
investigated in the first funding period.

Security, Privacy and Accounting in Context-Aware Systems
The target of the sub-project is to ensure the
acceptability of context-aware systems by means of
technical mechanisms, considering the divergent
requirements of users, content and service providers.
The research program includes adaptive protection and
privacy mechanisms as well as means to enable accounting
of context-aware services. The security mechanisms shall
be context-aware, they shall have a fine granularity,
and they target on open system platforms in environments
that are only partly trustworthy. Finally, the developed
mechanisms shall be integrated into a multilateral
security solution.
